Red Lentil Patties

These red lentil patties are so simple to make just – 6 ingredients -.They can be shaped into small or large patties and used like a burger. The bite is a lot not mushy like bean burger. They can be served with flat breads or even a burgeer bun with all the trimmings.

Note: they need soaking for several hours

I used dried red lentils, a carrot, a red onion and dried spices of your choice. This time I used tandoori flavours but you can used anything you have lying around

choose enough of the ingredients to make the right amount of patties, about the same ratio for each item. as they don’t expand after soaking. I choose enough to mak 6 small patiies.

Rinse the lentils several times and then leave to soak in cold water for a couple of hours. (yeah is necessary)

drain the red lentils and pat them dry.

Peel and chop the carrot and onion then place in a blender with the spices the and soaked, drained and dried red lentils

blend into a paste and form them into pattes. Place the patties in the fridge and allow to firm up for 10 mins

When ready to cook, GENTLY shallow fry them until golden brown on both sides turn them every few mins .They hold together well after the FIRST SIDE Has COOKED. when cooked on both sides Place on kitchen towel to drain.

Can be served while warm or just as nice cold.

You’ll find they have have a firm bite much firmer than a bean burger.
